Fresh Starts with God! Introduction
On a special Sunday, the youth and children of Alive Believers Church (ABC) Liverpool led an inspiring church service, bringing a message of hope, renewal, and transformation. The sermon, delivered by Brother Mayowa, focused on the theme “Fresh Starts with God!”—a powerful reminder that no matter our past, God offers us the chance to begin anew.
Bible Passage: 2 Corinthians 5:17 –
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.
God Gives Us Fresh Starts
The Bible reassures us that God’s love is unending and His grace gives us new beginnings.
Isaiah 43:18-19 states:
Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.
This means that no matter our mistakes, failures, or uncertainties, God is always working to renew our lives and guide us towards a better path.
How to Have a Fresh Start
Brother Mayowa encouraged the congregation to embrace fresh starts in their daily lives by:
- Seeking Forgiveness: Apologizing to those we may have hurt and embracing forgiveness, as taught in Matthew 6:14-15.
- Trying Something New: Stepping out in faith, learning new things, and making new friends (Proverbs 4:7).
- Being Kind to Others: Loving and helping our neighbors as Jesus commanded (Matthew 22:39).
- Praying and Trusting God: Seeking God’s guidance and strength through prayer (1 Thessalonians 5:17).
Bible Characters Who Experienced Fresh Starts
- The Prodigal Son (Luke 15:11-32): A young man who made poor choices but found forgiveness and love when he returned home. This story reminds us that God always welcomes us back, no matter how far we stray.
- Moses (Exodus 3-14): Despite his fears and past failures, Moses was chosen by God to lead the Israelites to freedom. This teaches us that God can use us for great things, even when we feel inadequate.
- Jonah (Book of Jonah): Jonah tried to run from God’s calling but was given a second chance to fulfill his mission. His story shows that even when we make mistakes, God’s plans for us remain.
Closing Encouragement
The service concluded with a call to action:
- Trust in God’s plan for fresh starts.
- Be kind, forgiving, and open to change.
- Ask God for guidance in all things.
We thank Brother Mayowa for delivering such a powerful sermon. May God continue to bless and favour him as he shares His word.
