On this special Sunday, themed Children’s Day of Glory, the children of Alive Believers Church Liverpool led a powerful service, reminding us that the next generation is filled with purpose and anointing. One of our teens, Raymond, delivered a spirit-filled sermon titled “Resisting Temptation,” showing that our children are not just the future but also the present, making an impact today.

Sermon Summary: "Resisting Temptation"

1. Jesus as Our Example in Overcoming Temptation

📖 Matthew 4:1-11 (NKJV) – The story of Jesus being tempted by Satan in the wilderness.
Raymond emphasized that even Jesus was tempted, but He resisted using the Word of God. This teaches us that temptation is not a sin—giving in to it is.

💡 Key Takeaway: When faced with temptation, we should turn to God’s Word and stand firm in faith.

2. The Three Types of Temptation Jesus Faced

🔥 1. The Temptation of the Flesh (Matthew 4:3-4)
“If You are the Son of God, command that these stones become bread.”

  • Satan tempted Jesus to turn stones into bread to satisfy His physical hunger.
  • Lesson: Many temptations come through our desires (food, pleasure, comfort), but we must remember that God provides for us in His timing.

📖 Jesus’ Response: “Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.”

💡 Key Takeaway: Don’t let physical desires control your decisions—trust in God’s provision.

🔥 2. The Temptation of Pride & Power (Matthew 4:5-7)
“Throw Yourself down… He shall give His angels charge over you.”

  • Satan tried to manipulate Scripture, challenging Jesus to prove His identity by testing God.
  • Lesson: The devil often tempts us with pride, power, and recognition, but we must remain humble and obedient to God.

📖 Jesus’ Response: “You shall not tempt the Lord your God.”

💡 Key Takeaway: True faith does not require testing God—it requires trust in His perfect plan.

🔥 3. The Temptation of Wealth & Worldly Glory (Matthew 4:8-10)
“All these things I will give You if You will fall down and worship me.”

  • Satan offered Jesus all the kingdoms of the world if He would bow to him.
  • Lesson: Many are tempted by money, success, and material possessions, but only God deserves our worship.

📖 Jesus’ Response: “You shall worship the Lord your God, and Him only you shall serve.”

💡 Key Takeaway: Never compromise your faith for temporary gains—what God has for you is far greater!

How Can We Resist Temptation Like Jesus?

✅ Pray for Strength“Watch and pray, lest you enter into temptation.” (Matthew 26:41)
✅ Know the Word of God – The Bible is our weapon against temptation (Ephesians 6:17).
✅ Stay Close to GodA strong relationship with God helps us say NO to sin.
✅ Surround Yourself with the Right People – Bad company corrupts good character (1 Corinthians 15:33).
✅ Flee from Temptation – Sometimes, the best way to resist is to run away from sin (2 Timothy 2:22).
